Given my tendency to voice frustration with covid policies, sometimes people ask me what I would do if I were in charge. So here it is – if I were President of the USA I would: 1. Remove all covid restrictions, or at least all those within federal control, immediately. All of them! They are doing far more harm than good. I’d encourage all states, counties, cities, and foreign countries to do the same.
Of course, the ultimate "if I were in charge" answer would be: NO ONE would be in charge.
Except in extremely limited and clearly defined contexts, medicine and medical care is NONE OF THE GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS. At any level. Beyond that moral/rights question, there is NO enumerated power/designated authority for the federal government to be involved in the medical field AT ALL.
The only person who should be in charge of my medical issues is: ME. And in conjunction with my doctor or whomever…IF I SO CHOOSE.
